“If you think that I have come here with Khukuri to start my dictatorship, then you are wrong. I come here to give voice to the thousands who are voiceless. Lal Kothi is the castle of Ghisingh the undertaker and nothing good ever results from there. Ghisingh must be chased away. Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha was born on the 7th and hence the gheroe of Lal Kothi will commence on the same day lasting for 15 days”, Bimal Gurung, the President of the newly instituted Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha said in an unprecedented political meeting held in Kalimpong. The meeting organized under the chairmanship of Kalyan Dewan was attended by over 5, 000 people most of whom had traveled from different parts of the district. “In the present circumstances, any Councilor may be killed and the accusation levied on me. I might even be personally attacked. All I want to tell those who are planning to kill me is that if you want to do so, then shoot me right here on my brow, else, God knows what will happen of you. GJMM has the capability to take the demand of Gorkhaland to New Delhi and we will do so in a peaceful and democratic way.
However, while we are ready to live and adhere by the philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi we are also ready to use the two Khukuris that are enshrined in our flag. I have rejected Subash Ghisingh and come here to raise the demand for Gorkhaland. The people have realized the bad deeds of GNLF and Subash Ghisingh. Now they will not pay heed to anything either GNLF or Subash Ghisingh has to say. Recently, Kalimpong has become the hideout for Ghisingh and he frequently comes here promising development. If he was interested in developing Kalimpong what have he done in all these years? Instead of developing Kalimpong, the Councilors have helped themselves more. I have so far collapsed 16-17 areas and will within a fortnight collapse Lopchu-Peshok constituency….it might soon be Kalimpong’s turn,” Gurung said initiating one of the most unprecedented political coups in the history of Darjeeling Hills.
The other speakers at the meeting included GJMM Vice President Kaman Singh Ramudamu, General Secretary Roshan Giri, Publicity and Communications Secretary Binoy Tamang, Alok Kant Thulung, Kalimpong Branch members Vijay Sundas, Gopal Ruchal, Deshbhakta Subba, Samuel Gurung among others. Gorkha People’s Revolutionary Front (Gorkha Jan Kranti Morcha) General Secretary Kumar Chamling who had recently dissolved GPRF was formally accepted into Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha.
Gurung before attending the meeting paid his respect to the late C. K. Pradhan. Talking to the reports there, he stated that the C. K. Pradhan had been assassinated under the orders of Subash Ghisingh and that GJMM would demand for CBI inquiry. He also stated that the GJMM would make Rs. 1 Lakh available for the construction of the monument of C. K. Pradhan.
