Darjeeling, The Telegraph, Dec. 11: The Hill Employees’ Association (HEA) in Darjeeling has promised to play a “vital role” in any peaceful and democratic movement for Gorkhaland.
A carefully drafted statement — ensuring that it is not seen as aligning with any political outfit in the hills — of the central leadership of the HEA (NB Singh Road faction) released today reads: “A resolution has been adopted to support the Gorkhaland demand.”

From a successful businessman to one of the visionary founders of Darjeeling Carnival, Ajay Edwards has been in a tizzy lately. It seems that he has now taken upon himself to lead the youths. Hard times might have hit the GNLF party but who would have ever imagined – Ajay Edwards, GNLF Youth wing coordinator? “People indulge in politics everywhere in the world but everybody seems to be scared of Politics in the hills. Why should we be afraid? Politics in Darjeeling must be healthy. This is a democratic country and everyone must be allowed to indulge in politics.”

Subash Ghisingh, the caretaker administrator of Darjeeling Hills and the president of the Gorkha National Liberation Front. Subash Ghisingh led Darjeeling Hills in a bloody Gorkhaland political and armed people’s uprising against the West Bengal Government. The following photo was taken during his enlisted days in the Indian Army.
