Republic Day Celebration Aglore in Darjeeling Hills

Darjeeling, Jan 26 10:50 AM IST: Republic Day is being celebrated with pomp and galore all over Darjeeling Hills today. In the main event at Darjeeling minutes ago, District Magistrate Rakesh Pandey unfurled the Indian Tricolour at Chowrasta followed by Police and Civil Defence march past, Territorial Army Band Show and cultural Programme by Children. Speaking to the people on the occasion the District Magistrate offered his greetings to the people of the hills. He said that it had been his intention to announce gallantry awards but due to the lack of time he could not. He however, stated that he would do so as soon as it was possible. Numerous festivities have been organised by the administration including movie shows for children at the Inox, Administration XI and Media XI Cricket match at the N. P. Ground Darjeeling. Official flag unfurling ceremony took place in all offices, associations, institutions, clubs etc. The Indian Tricolour is seen atop almost all houses in Darjeeling Hills.
