The Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI-M) has lost its revolutionary character and has become entangles with rigidity. Marxism-Leninism will never die until it is dynamic and changes with time. That is what we want to emphasize by revolutionary Marxist as that of dynamic and pragmatic Marxism.

Bird Flu Scare strikes Darjeeling Hills

Darjeeling Jan 27, 6:30 PM IST: Bird Flu scare has ultimately hit Darjeeling Hills with people calling for the closure of shops selling live and dressed chicken. This also includes shops selling eggs. While no official confirmation on the Bird Flu scare was made, said business stuck to self imposed closure. There were no confirmation either of whether Bird Flu has spread over to the Hills or not.

HIMALAYA DARPAN BANNED!

Darjeeling, 27 Jan, 12:36 PM IST: The controversy of Himalaya Darpan spilled over to the streets as Gorkha Janmukti Morcha finally deciding to protest Himalaya Darpan’s unethical journalism by requesting people to refrain from buying the paper. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has also decided not issue any news to the paper. They have alleged that Sibu Chettri has personal political links with the leaders of GNLF and had allegedly been in cohorts with I. N. Pradhan. GJM also demanded for inquiry into criminal conspiracy between Sibu Chettri and I. N. Pradhan. When this reporter tried to extract comment from Roshan Giri, GJM General Secretary, he refused to comment saying that it was for the police to investigate. Sibu Chettri remained unreachable for comment.

Himalaya Darpan has been banned from 26th January to 2nd February.

It Snows in Darjeeling! No Electricity! No Telephone! -0.2 Degrees

Darjeeling, Jan 26/27: 9:32 AM IST: Darjeeling and the surrounding Hills including

Sandakphu, Phalut, Sinchel Hills, Jalapahar and Katakpahar experienced heavy snowfall from
11:30 pm in Jan 26 which continued till around 4 am this morning. The lower section of the
town especially the market experienced water and snow and hence by morning there were not
much snow for people to enjoy. The electricity remained caught off since 11 pm the previous
night and was only restored around 11 am in some sections of the town. The Telephone lines
also remained inoperative as most of the cables and wires sorted out due to snow and rain.
In places especially, Ghoom and Senchal falling of tree branches have also lead to the
disruption of electricity and telephone communiciation. The people however drove in numbers
to Senchal and the Ghoom area for frolic. Tourists were seen happy that they could see snow
hope that more snow was to come. The market folks meanwhile lamented that the snow was not
so heavy and that the coming days would be even more colder. Winter, they said was not yet
over.

The meteorological department had predicted cold waves but a sudden snowfall put them in a
bit of embarrassment. A local source at the department, who did not want to be named said,
“Can we even call our department the Meteorological Department. We are housed in this dingy
room and have no equipments whatsoever. The rain-gauge is almost shameful. How can we
predict things?” The District Magistrate remained unreachable for comment.
