Morcha firm on demands

Feb. 27: The bandh in Darjeeling will continue till the state removes Subash Ghisingh from the post of caretaker administrator of the hill council and the Centre scraps the Sixth Schedule bill, Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders said in Calcutta today. [Inset: Ghisingh in Santiniketan on Wednesday. “This is Kalyug,” he said after a guided tour of Visva- Bharati. “What happened in Iraq? What is happening everywhere? Negative,” he said.]
After a 75-minute meeting with chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, the Morcha brass said they would stay in the city for a few more days awaiting the government’s response to their demands. “We are happy with today’s discussion. The chief minister said he would discuss our two primary demands with his cabinet colleagues and convey the government’s stand at the earliest,” said Morcha president Bimal Gurung.
“The bandh and the hunger strike (by Morcha supporters in Darjeeling) will continue,” Gurung said.
Asked about the demands, Bhattacharjee said: “We had a detailed discussion but no decision has been taken.”
About Ghisingh, the Morcha president said: “We have heard that he has gone to Santiniketan today, he should remain there.”
Ghisingh has been shut out of Darjeeling since his return from Delhi on February 18. He was holed up in Pintail, on the outskirts of Siliguri, for four days before moving to Calcutta.

I Don’t think Bimal is very serious on the seperate statehood demand. His ultimate goal as of now looks like the chairmanship of DGHC.

Everyone is after that chair..
Gorkhaland is just a way to get to that chair..
None of the politicians are serious about gorkhaland..if it was such a big issue it would be there everywhere in the news..
All I can say is all the best for the fight to the chair…

Mr. Anonymous, This site is dedicated towards free speech and expression and this site also dedicated towards finding the ‘Self Determination’ of the Gorkha People of the hills and that includes all including Bengalese, Biharis and others who live in the hills. What I really can’t understand is who ever you are why are you so much against Gorkhaland. It is not for you to give and not for you pass judgement. Gorkhaland is well on its way and you can do nothing about it. It is sad that you feel that way. You are a real loser man.

Mr. Banerjee , jeeezzz… don’t make me replay again. First of all, in the very first line u try to ‘educate’ me about ‘freedom of speech and expression’ , and then snatch it away in the very next sentence. Confusion??.. Like the way you are – ’sub- consciously’ confused, about your own stance on this (Gorkhaland) issue?? … You know and I know – The inevitable truth- No Gorkhaland dude. … hahah!!… They did it again. The politicians. Made you look like a fool, ehh??… hmmm …I guess I spoke too soon, or did I?.. hahaha!! … Lets wait and watch. I’m loving it!!
P.S: I Love Gorkhaland – The Idea. [ROFLMAO];D
