Prashant Rasaily’s Film reachs ‘Fab Four’

Posted by barunroy on April 20, 2008

Prashant Rasaily, a budding director from Gangtok has reached Sony Pix Gateway to Hollywood Top Four. It is commendable that Prashant has reached this far without ever having been to college or had any training in filmmaking or the like. He comes from a family of artists, is very focused and bent on winning. He dares to do things that have never been attempted – like crossing a freezing river barefooted! He is confident and very emotional. “If there is a good story and executed well, it can be a good movie. I want to make a good movie,” says Prashant.

The Himalayan Beacon’s best wishes to Prashant Rasaily. Hope you win the Gateway Grand Prize.

    Gateway Grand Prize

The unknown filmmaker who is selected as the Gateway winner will receive a prize that is both extraordinary and unprecedented.

While there have been many producers and companies who have said that they want to develop and nurture new filmmaking talent in India, only Ashok Amritraj, his Jury and PIX have put their money where their mouth is!

The Gateway contestant who emerges from India this year as the winning director will first be whisked off to Hollywood, California to begin an 8 weeks “boot camp” with Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park Entertainment. In this period, he/she will learn the particular methods and techniques that Ashok has routinely employed for the past three decades in producing successful motion pictures in Hollywood.

The Gateway Director will also gain an understanding of what Hollywood is all about, and learn first-hand about how to get a film made in Hollywood. While the artistic aspects of filmmaking are very important, the winner will be exposed to the important commercial aspects of show business. Throughout this entire period, the Gateway Director will be guided by industry professionals and will constantly be benefiting from Ashok Amritraj’s tutelage and mentorship.

Finally and most significantly, the Gateway Winner will begin development and pre-production on a film that he/she will direct for Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park Entertainment! Yes, that’s correct: believe it or not, an absolute unknown aspiring filmmaker from somewhere in India will be tapped to direct a Hollywood film, financed and produced by Ashok Amritraj and Hyde Park Entertainment!

Once the film is completed, Hyde Park Entertainment will endeavor to distribute the film in territories and theaters all around the World!
