I only speak for my self personally and for those in my family and friends circle that know of Sam Bahadur and his respect for the Gorkhas…Any one that respects Gorkhas deserves to be respected.

Besides Sam Manekshaw did great service to the country and our community in uniform as well as in civvies.

He was also instrumental in getting support & encouraging Football amongst the Gorkhas.

Yes I am waiting to see the post from Dipak from the Telegraph!

I read some blogs. I am really sad to read some of the comments. Have we become so selfish that we are showing respect to this great Man!!!

Kindly dont pull the legs of our respected late SAM, He has supported Gorkha land or not that doest not mean that we will start criticizing this great man.I am not understanding what kind of peoples we are??? dont we peoples have little respect for him who has fought so many wars for our country??If we are not agreed then we should keep our mounth shut and stay cool as we dont have any right to dishonoured him.No one coming to you and requesting to lit a candle, it’s upto you what you will do. if your not interested then stay cool but dont dishonour this Man,dont try to disturb him as he is sleeping deeply for ever in heaven.

Aardee, Sam stands highly for the Gorkha Regiments but cannot be forced down on those from non-army backgrounds.

The need of the hour being our own heroes from the army or freedom struggle or other fields from every corner of India as besides us noone else is bothered.

On the other hand we are well-learned about India, from what i gather from my exchanges on the blog. We know all about the well-known Indian herores. It is time to know our own.

And I appreciate friends like PJ, Pranavesh, YKs, Bishal and a few others who are eclectic enough to give feedback on my pic postings because they have realised all this belongs to the Gorkha heritage and community everywhere.

Sam had great love for the Gorkhas as the best soldiers Indian army has. As most officers they cannot see beyond that. Also many officers still continue to believe that all Gorkhas are from Nepal. Because in Sam’s time 80% of his gorkhas were from Nepal.

Sam was also very British in his outlook.

Sam probably could not digest the Gorkhaland news as to him it appeared rebellious used to Gorkhas as soldiers.

The hero of the 1971 war was Genral Jagjit Singh Arora.

Yes Sam did bring a lot of fame and glory to the 8th Gorkha regiment and we are appreciative of his praises of the Gorkhas.

Just think that as per past history your Kumayun and Garowal was a part of Nepal but have you peoples started to demand to make another GL there?? No.why ?? as you know your population is less in number so no one will accept that demand….BG and his gangs should also realise this logic is applicavle in siliguri and dooar areas.Am I not right??

Yes I have supported your GL demand but it should be based on present demographic situation not by past history…..so plain area like siliguri and dooars (totally bengali & adibasi dominated)cant be included in GL as your leaders know that it will never come under GL if it creates then why why unnecessary he is creating tension???….

i am not sad, non-Gorkha Indians should be sad that they are missing out such a great race in their midst

But dont be sad ….that’s govt. faults…as you know in every nations the minorities are treated bad (Though India is far better…just see Pakistan & Bangladesh)……Govt. of India should realise it fast and should feel that everyone citizen should get same dignity…….But I really dont like those who are discussing about Greater Nepal….are they anti Indians???..

I have read indian history where we can know the name of Indian Freedom fighters but didn’t get any gorkha freedom fighters name who have fough for India against British. Had Durga Mall, Dal Bahdur Thapa, Ram Singh Thakur fought for Indian Freedom, please let me know??? …..But yes we came to know from history that there was lot of Gorkha soldiers in INA led by Sri Subhash C. Bose who have fought for freedom….

The first battles against the British were by the Gorkhas in 1814—1815! Do you know that?

I like this light a candle idea. Let us do this for the death anniversary of our freedom fighters Durga Mall, Dal Bahdur Thapa, Ram Singh Thakur and everybody else.
