Sourav Ganguly, Abhijeet to visit Siliguri

SILIGURI, Sept.10: Former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly, noted playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya and former cricketer Debang Gandhi would be in Siliguri on a two-day visit from 12 September to take part in a number of programmes in the town and its outskirts.

Informing this, Siliguri mayor Mr Bikash Ghosh said that the trio would inaugurate the newly built municipal health centre, Srinivas Seva Sadan, near the Himachal Sangha at Deshbandhupara at 5:00 p.m. and the newly-installed floodlights at the Agragamee Cricket Coaching Centre at Ashrampara at 6:30 p.m.

The former Indian skipper, along with Avijeet and Gandhi would also take part in a fund-raising programme for the Bihar flood victims, which has been organised at a private amusement park at Dagapur in Siliguri at 10:00 a.m., before proceeding to formally inaugurate an intra-school football tournament and a computer laboratory at the Nazrul Satabarshiki Vidyalaya at Leucipokhri at noon and Phansidewa Government Sponsored Ashram-type Girls’ High School at Phansidewa at 12:30 p.m.

Thereafter, they would take part in a felicitation ceremony at the Phansidewa High School Ground, where members of the Phansidewa Panchayat Samity and teachers and staff of the Phansidewa High School would honour them.
