DARJEELING: According to a Central Government communique to West Bengal State Government, the Central Government is ready to call a Tripartite meeting as early as 24th of August aimed at discussing the issue of the formation of separate state of Gorkhaland. A senior Home Ministry official has confirmed that the Central Government has asked the West Bengal Government to communicate this offer to Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in Darjeeling.
A Gorkha Janmukti Morcha delegation led by Darjeeling Member of Parliament Jaswant Singh had meet the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on June 15, seeking Tripartite talks between the Central Government, State Government and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha paving the way for the formation of separate state.
It remains unconfirmed at this moment, however, that the Tripartite talks initiated by the Central Government will indeed deal with the formation of a separate state of Gorkhaland or that it will seek to involve Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the West Bengal Government in a direct one-to-one interaction meditated by the Central Government. Whatever, the case maybe, political analysts in Darjeeling Hills and beyond has welcomed this initiative, more so since it has been initiated by the Union Home Ministry itself.
No statements so far have been made by the West Bengal Government and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.

the news may also be a creation of the gjm for face saving to call off the proposed strike as no one is happy with the decision to call the bandh. even the gjm leaders in their close circle conversations are found to be murmuring about the party’s or bimal’s decision. some of the leaders even said that this was the unilateral decision of gurung which is without consulting the other CCMs. if it is so, what is the necessity to make a jumbo central committee?

What is the problem in creating Gorkhaland?
The delay will eventually prove the presence of racial inclination in the political system. Government should be as unbiased as possible.Gorkhas are as Indian as any other communities in India.
It would be a matter of our shame if the demands of gorkhas demand is supressed. We dont want to see our country to be second china.

I too got this news yesterday at around 4 PM and seems to be true. But I also came to know what was the internal strategy of the Central Govt. after 1st tripatriate talk with GJMM. “KEEP THEM HAPPY” policy to be followed by central crackdown Cell. Isn’t this new development in line with the above policy? – (Keep us Happy sans Gorkhaland)

Probably the Guys at Delli had sent an SMS to the Bongs at the Writers bldg inviting the GJMM for talks. As it evident that they (Delli) take the matter so casually and off handedly. Yet another talks which is probably the third prelude to the preceeding two. ‘Baat Accha Huwaa, Positive Aswashan Milaa’ would probably be the message all of us would get after glueing to the local channels.
Anyways, Jaswant Singh might have some strings to pull at the lower house of our parliament. The battle is on, the war cry is loud and clear and the meek public like us is hoping this development would mean the end of the Bandh, that is sooooo like us during the bygone days….
