[Please note. This report was submitted legitimately by a fellow blogger however, a blogger by the same name has offered his resentment at having his name used for nefarious purposes. I do not believe that to be the case. There simply could be the possibility of two individuals with the same name. Still, I have stricken out the name of the contributing blogger so that no one is made to suffer. Regs. Barun]

“Dawn fires the surface into Gold, gold eyed herons stilt and stalks, at silver noon the water lie still wheeling of a mirrored hawk”

Break through – an awesome job done by the young versatile you this comprising from Naga Hill to Khasi Hills from terai of Assam to the lush and green Darjeeling and Sikkim Hills.

No one even had the idea of celebrating the Bhanu Jayanti at the Capital of India. Last year a street in Kolkata was named after the poet Late. Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.

The Himalaya Yuva Forum took the pains and courtesy to father all the Nepali / Gorkha speaking youths from across Delhi to celebrate Bhanu Bhakta Jayanti at Safdarjung Community Hall.

Everything went smoothly with amateur anchors taking the stage, though amateur both looked professional on their approach. Yozna and Sameer took the proceeding forward and Kamal Pradhan took on the podium to relate the true life story of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya, being a resident of Assam. Kamal Pradhan has been actively participating in the social events in an around Delhi.

Though Bhanu Bhakta was born on the 13th day of July, the celebration was held on 12th July (Sunday) to manage time factor. Evening time and the auspicious occasion of Bhanu Bhakta with placing the cultural Khada and lighting the deo on the poets photo.

Song and dance troup performed well. In a very short span of time too these young youths contributed well towards making this historic even a Grand Success.

Cultural dress worn by both the section of human kind daura surwal, Dhaka topi and chowbandi choli, pottay in which section of people were drapped and decked in Preservation of Culture as well.

Lastly at atmost 7pm the ceremony was almost over in which 200 to 250 people attended and the biggest attraction was also reflected with traditional sail rotti, alu-dum and momo on display.

Of course sail roti, is rate to see in Delhi but on the auspicious birth anniversary of Bhanu Bhakta sail-roti was also served on the platter as well.

The even was well organized and thanks especially to Kamal Pradhan, Zina, Anupama, Yozna, Poonam, Preeti, Sameer, Pankaj, Pema and Co, Mingma and his band and dance troupe.

Gorkha Janamukthi Morcha Delhi NCR, Vice Pr. Md. Nelson Pradhan and Praneem Subba, Bharatiya Gorkha Ekta Manch also graced the occasion.

    ……………………..
Many congratulations for the effort! However,it isn’t true that Bhanu Jayanti has never been celebrated in Delhi. To my knowledge there hasn’t been a break in observing the jayanti for more than ten years. Some of the celebrations have been in LTG, Kamani to name a few places. In fact, in 2004 all nepali speaking MPs were brought on one platform by the Jayanti.
However, one of the simple joys of life is the feeling of being a pioneer even when travelling a well trodden path!!!

Could they have meant that no one in their group (Himalayan Youth Forum) had the experience of organizing a Bhanu Jayanti before?

Bhanu Jayanti has been celebrated by large and small pockets of Gorkhas all over India. There has been Gorkha social gatherings with similar purposes in Delhi. I attended one abt 10 years ago a social gathering on the occasion of Bhanu Acharya. The opccasion is alo celebrated annually in evry Gorkha habited town in HP and Uttrakhand and Jammu, etc since evr since I can remember.

While I welcome the HYF’s initiative to also follow the tradition, claiming anything cultural as the first is not ethical. There are have many more Gorkhali cultural and social activities done by our forebearers bfore we were even born than we know of.

It was a wonderful initiatve put in by all the people, as a result it was a success and enjoyed by the people. Look at the result rather than judge the WHYs and HOWs!!

I will leave all the Himalayan region people with just one line said by Barack Obama:

“If you are walking down the right path, and you are willing to keep walking, eventually, you will make progress.” So aptly said!!

    Strike hits Darjeeling tea industry

SILIGURI: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s indefinite bandh since July 13 has seriously hit the tea industry in the region causing a whopping loss of Rs 1 crore daily.

“The industry (is) incurring a loss of one crore daily and a few gardens (have) started considering closure,” Secretary of the Darjeeling Tea Association Mr Sandeep Mukherjee told PTI.

Stating that it would be difficult to produce even 50 per cent of last year’s yield of 9.5 million kg of Darjeeling tea this year, Mr Mukherjee said that it would also adversely affect India’s credibility in the international market.

“If we fail to supply international buyers they will shift to other countries like Nepal and China. They are not concerned about our problems,” he said.

“The industry from the beginning of this fiscal has been plagued with problems one after another and the GJM bandh is the last nail in the coffin. If the bandh is not immediately called off many gardens would have no option but to close,” he said. – PTI

Surely Sameer may have trouble finding a suitable translation of “aandhi kavi” in English. It could mean blind poet(ess).

Your posts do not make it clear whether you want the welfare of the Gorkhas/Nepalis or whether you want to derogate them. Your posts may be uncomfortable to many but that is the fact of life. One cannot “live in” denial!

  18. Sanity said

Now that is quite serious accusation if you meant “live-in” instead of “living”.

  19. Baburam said

Nepali people should accept the fact.

Dear Baburam..You seem to be so concerned about prostitution of Nepali girls, why dont you do someting..we will join you.
(sir…not all girls become prostitutes in delhi)

Now about live-in relations with Africans, i havent seen a nepali/gorkhali girl involved in one, if you have seen one one or so please do not generalise the issue.

If you say that live in relation is the biggest deed of nepali girls…make the guys also equally accountable…coz a guy and a girl together makes a live-in relation right?

  21. lazy bum said

i dont think that this has anything to do with being nepali. We hear people talking bad about our girls from darj, sikkim or north east. Due to our mongoloid features, we stand out.

How does the girls from the rest of the country stand in this? they are in the same water. Google for desi mobile scandals.

I’d like to think this as a negative effect of globalization. Just my two cents…

    Baburam,

1)let’s solve the debate ‘democratically’. Just log onto any porn site and type a) nepali b)desi spearately and count how many nepali girls are their against desis. I am sure you will be shocked to know that desis win like Jaswant Singh won against Jibesh Sarkar. The bottomline is prostitution is not a racial problem its a global problem.

2)About live in relationship It is biological, human phenomenon which has been ruled as ‘normal’ in the developed countries. Plus, Your sister/causin doesnt tell you whether she is in live in relationship with somebody. You will only see nepalis because they dont give a damn about you.

Hope it helps. In case it doesnt join bajarang dal.

Are you a pimp or someone from your family is in prostitution because you seem to know many things. Face it !

Sex trafficking is a global problem today and the generalizations made by Baruram on the Nepali communities is totally uncalled for. I agree with ‘@56.Sanity’ in this regard. To Baburam I would say stop visiting the xxx sites yourself as your blogs suggest you do, and start by looking at your neighbourhood nepali girls as your sisters. It might help.

  42. JTM said

In a thread dedicated to Bhanu Bhakta all irrelevant commnets should be deleted.

And for the comment ‘All the girls were with their madesi boy friends.’ What a backward, chauvinistic,narrow-minded comment to make. In India you dont use the word madesi. If Indian nepali girls had brought their other non-Nepali friends I am glad. Others will also know more about our culture. Nepali boys also go out with non-Nepali girls. Nepali guys also marry non-nepali girls. Going by the Oohs and Aahs over Dia Mirza’s pics on Beacon it is very clear our boys fancy the non-nepali faces. So whats wrong with our girls going out with non-Nepali boys? We are not a Talibanistic race so kindly dont have separate norms for the Nepali girls. Nepali boys in Delhi have the hots for Punjabi girls. So cut out all this discrimination against the girls. Madesi boys! My left foot! aaphai ta madesi ketiharu lai heri ra raal chuancha.
